It has been a long time since I posted an update so here are some recent photos and bits of news.

The family is doing well though we had to deal with some illness recently. E had RSV and passed it on to J and mommy. E is all better and J and Mommy are well on their way to recovery. J had to be admitted to the hospital for a few days because he just wasn't eating. They put him on an IV gave him breathing treatments every few hours. We were blessed that he got over it so quickly, I think we caught it early on. He is still congested and coughs but he sounds much better and acts much happier. Most importantly is that he is eating regularly again.

I ended up taking the other job offer I had so I no longer work for DISH. Now I work for coverstar which makes retractable pool covers. It was started in Utah but they have a plant out here now because a lot of their business is out East. Our plant ships out all the components for a system which include motors, the vinyl covers and long aluminum pieces. The aluminum is for the tracks that allow the cover to retract, the tubes that the cover roles up on, lids to cover the roll-up tube etc.. I am the supervisor for the extrusion line so I have to QC all the orders as they come down the line before we box them up and send them over to shipping. our boxes are usually about 25 feet long and can get pretty heavy. We don't do any extruding of aluminum, we recieve the extrusions from other sources, but we cut a lot of them to custom lengths. There are a lot of different hardware and extrusion pieces to keep track of but I am making some progress and getting to know the different systems a little better. Of course every once in a while I get thrown a curve ball and we have to fill an order that is out of the ordinary. There are currently four workers on the line as we are down to our lean winter numbers and they are all from Mexico so I have been speaking more Spanish than English at work. It is good practice.

I have to say that every time we have a cold or dreary day I am not very sad that I no longer work outside, though on other days it would be nice. I ended up taking the job because of the convenience. It is a 10-15 minute drive where it took about 30 to get to DISH. Also, one of my neighbors that is in our ward works there so we car pool which allows K to have the car on days she needs it. Other than that I do get paid a little more and I like that I am brushing up on my Spanish.

Today I went to my interview at the dental school here. The Dean admissions is working with me to get me into the resident applicant pool which will greatly increase my chances of being accepted this year. It would also save me 80-90 grand in tuition expenses. The only real weakness in my application is the low score in one of the DAT sections. I was planning on retaking the DAT this year. The first time I took time off from work to retake it K went into labor early and we were in the hospital for three weeks. Then the next time I actually set a date to take it but that was right around the time people started getting sick and we were in the hospital yet again. There is still a chance for me to get in without retaking the DAT, especially if I am in the pool of resident applicants. We are hoping it will work out for us to get in this year.

Well that is about it for the news I think... here are the pictures.

J in his hooded bath towel.
E lending a helping hand and feeding J.
E got a princess makeup kit so this is her looking like a princess. Lovely.
This is J's fat shirt, it makes him look 2 pounds heavier than he really is. Here he is displaying a fine double chin (and a goofy expression)
I like this one because he looks like a blossoming J-flower opening up for the day. That's all the pics for now.

Long Overdue

Time for a long overdue posting. We have all been doing well here. The temperatures have been really nice and even on the cool side sometimes so that is a nice break from the July temps we had when we first came here.

My job has been going nicely too. I still feel like it is a job I will enjoy doing and there are some good perks too. I actually got a job offer at a different place that needs a supervisor over a production line that is bilingual. I still haven't called the guy back but they would have to pay be pretty well to get me to leave. Also, I don't know when I would be able to interview with him since I am working every day this week and I worked every day last week. After this week I will just be working four days a week but I have been in class lately which is on a different schedule. It looks like some of the people in our training group of 35 are probably not going to be able to cut it though. Maybe they'll prove me wrong but I'm not counting on it.

I don't know if I have told anyone yet, maybe I have, but I have an interview in Philadelphia later this month at Temple School of Dentistry. That is encouraging to know that someone else is interested in my application. Many of the other school have said no and some others have said that I need to retak the DAT which I already know.

The Mrs. and E and J are all doing well. J keeps getting bigger so that's good since that is about all he needs to do.
This is the most recent pic of J, he was wearing this outfit at church today.

This is E playing with her playdo that she got for being such a good girl.

We tried to recreate a photo studio and snapped a bunch of pictures. We got a few good ones but needed better lighting to really get some good pictures. This is one of my faves.

Good News
Tomorrow I am going to new employee orientation at Dish Network so I think that means I have a job with them. I guess I'll find out more tomorrow. It's not real close to home which is too bad, about a 20-25 minute drive. However, I do drive a company van around while I am working and they pay is above average so it should work out nicely. Best of all I think it is work that I will enjoy. I will be installing Dish TV systems.

In other news we are all doing well and J continues to grow and progress. The other day we went to the zoo and had a good time there. Here are some pics.

Well be brought J home yesterday early in the afternoon so we are happy to be all together as a family. E hadn't seen J in person before so it was cute to see how surprised she was when she finally met him.

It has been great to have mom here with us to watch E during our many trips to the hospital and to help around the house. She is going home early tomorrow so I need to get to bed so I can take her to the airport on time.

New Arrival

We are still on the fence about his name but won't be posting it on here any way we'll just call him J on here. It's not fun to see him with all the tubes and stuff but he is doing well so that is encouraging.

He has started to open his eyes and look around when we are visiting him to change his diaper and check his temperature and stuff like that. We only do that every four hours so he can get all the rest he needs.

We have been in the Midwest for a while now so I guess I should write with impressions. The heat has been the most notable thing for me followed closely by the humidity. Apparently we are having an uncharacteristically warm summer this year, lucky us. It is a far cry from the dry heat of Idaho's high desert. I notice people are pretty friendly for the most part and it seems like about 50% of the population smokes.

I have been working with an electrical contracting company called Frye Electric. Apparently I am getting pretty good pay at $11/hr, I guess that is because it is a cheap place to live. Currently I am taking some time off to study for the DAT, a test I was hoping I wouldn't have to retake.

All of our stuff got here a couple weeks back but we still have some random boxes laying around that we are working on. I think part of the problem is that this place isn't as big as the last one. Because our place is still a mess we haven't taken any pictures lately so here are the last few to get us caught up to the present.

Now she's got hair and teeth but she still doesn't shy away from the camera. We are almost caught up to the present now.

some of my more recent faves. She's finally starting to get hair... even some teeth too!

I have been trying to pick only a select few of my favorite pictures of E over the years but it is proving to be very difficult. Here are a few more of when she was a bit older.

Here are some of the best early pics of E. I forget that she once looked like that.
