Our little writer

This one is for the Grandmas :)

E LOVES to write stories now that she has learned to read and sound out words. She found a love for story telling long ago but now likes to write these stories down with her new found skill of spelling/writing.

Her first short story: (Click on the pictures to enlarge them to be able to read it)

Translation of the Cover: The Missing Crown
Translation of her story: There was a King who had a crown, a missing crown. Then he found it right on his seat. The End.

I love it! As much as her drama and sassy-ness drives us crazy (see post below) we love this girl! She is just so smart.
We are so proud of our little writer.

I think I have a teenage daughter!

Proof that a 5-6 year old girl is a lot like a 13-14 year old girl....

Quotes from my E girl in the last few months....(read these how E says it, with a little sassy tone)

Q #1 "Mom, why don't I ever wear skirts to school? Annabelle wears skirts and dresses all the time, why don't I?"

Q#2 "Mom, why do you ALWAYS make me sandwiches for lunch? Other kids' mom's give them some thing else in their lunches!"

Q #3 "Mom, why don't I ever wear belts? Every one else at school wears belts!"

Q#4 "Mom, why don't you ever put my hair in a big pony tail? Lots of girls at school wear theirs in big pony tails!"

No, I'm not joking. I'm not making any of these up.
Seriously? She's only in K-G, she's not even 6 yet! Why does she care about what everyone else is doing ALREADY!?
AAAAHHHHAAHHHHH! This is what I'm thinking in my head as I think of her as a teenager.

You see why I was hoping for another boy? j/k...........kind of ;)

Sassy girl!

In my defense about these......yes, I feel the need to defend myself :)

Q#1....she doesn't like to wear skirts. In fact I would ask her to wear a cute skirt to school because I like that look and she would refuse!

Q#2....She will eat NOTHING else BUT sandwiches, AND I put in things like fruit, yogurts, crackers, treats etc. every day. I mix the sides up every day for her.

Q#3....No defense really, I didn't know belts were a new necessary accessory these days for 5 year olds SORRY!

Q#4.....When I ask her what she wants me to do with her hair she usually shrugs her shoulders. I do 'do' her hair every day.

OK, I'm done defending myself. I feel better.

Can't wait for her to be a teenager, it's gonna be fun!
Stay tuned.

I CAN be 'that' Mom!

I need to put up a post on my blog that is happy. Enough with the drama.... here's a fun post :)

Today is E's 100th Day of School!

She was so excited about it. They are doing lots of fun things today at school to celebrate it. She made a 100 poster and a pair of 100 glasses and a 100 hat. They get to have a parade where they wear their cool 100 attire that they made and march around the gym and she is so excited for this parade, it's really cute.

She was talking about this day for the last few days and so I wanted to do something special for her.

I decided to be 'that' Mom. I'm usually not 'that' Mom, I usually just send her off to school with the same 'ol lunch. But Today I decided to mix it up a little, today I decided to write her a little "Happy 100th Day of school" note and put it in her lunch....AND (here is the best part) I even made her sandwich into the #100. See I told you, I'm being 'that' Mom, that cool Mom who is so creative and thoughtful and all that fun stuff. I'm proud of myself, I must admit.

I told her to look for two special surprises in her lunch today. She was so excited because what little kid doesn't love to hear they get a special surprise in their lunch. I was so excited for her to find it too, so excited in fact that I went to her school half way through her lunch time just so I could see her reaction.

She saw me come in the lunch room and yelled out "Mom I got your note!" with the biggest smile on her face! That just made my day. She can read now and she was so happy to tell me "I even read it all by myself." she was so proud of herself.

I love this little girl! She is so smart and so fun to just have a good long conversation with, I love this new stage I get to experience with her.

I did however, have to point out to her that I made her sandwich into 100. She laughed and laughed and showed it off to her friends, she loved it.

Today I learned something new about myself.....I can be 'that' Mom.
And it was fun.

Daddy is our Hero!

What a fun day we had yesterday! ((Sarcasm...))

Have you ever heard of these twistable crayons? They are a good idea and I thought I liked them, until yesterday.......
The crazy things you have to deal with when you have kids. I never would have thought of these to be "dangerous" or "hazardous" but apparently my three year old boy can find a way to make me realize these are NOT good for kids, especially kids who like to put things in their mouths to chew on (which, by the way, is ALL children ages 0-6 years old. It's true ask any Mother).

As I was finishing up blogging my 'therapy post' yesterday I hear a shrieking cry come from my boy. I ask him to come to me so I can kiss it better, knowing it was his "I hurt myself" cry. He wanders over to me still screaming in pain and I see him chewing on this crayon, or so I thought he's just chewing on it. He gets to me and I try and yank it out of his mouth saying "Take this out, don't chew on these things." only to find out it is stuck to his lip/mouth/cheek area and this is why he is crying. I pull a little harder (bad idea), he screams and I realize he has screwed his lip up into the bottom of this and it is REALLY stuck.

I calmly look at it for a while and start thinking of how in HECK I am going to get this off. I then calm him down some. Then of course being the good Mother that I am, I tell him to stay there as I get the camera. In my head I'm flashing back to this story of E, how do kids get into these predicaments? Seriously, this has to be documented. Who would have thought you could screw your lip up into a crayon? Not me!

I try and get it off with several tools, but to no avail. He's screaming in pain and I'm already emotional. I call my sweet neighbor and ask if she can come and look at our situation and help. By this time J boy is SCREAMING! He is not happy. I'm crying, of course, because that is what I do these days. I call C who is studying at school before he goes to class to take a quiz. I tell him "J is stuck, I don't know what to do, just come home and help." Poor Daddy did not know what was going on, just that Mommy was crying, J boy was screaming and we needed him to save us.

While waiting for our Hero of the Day, Daddy to get home my neighbor and I hold J boy down and try a few things but nothing is working with him freaking out the way he was. I'm still crying and decide to just wait till daddy gets home. I decide to just hold my boy and cry with him saying "I know it hurts but it'll be over soon." I get him pretty calmed down and almost asleep before Daddy even gets home. My amazing neighbor was so good, she stayed with me as moral support and ready to help when C got home.

I look back now and it's quite comical really. But at the time I'm thinking "Seriously, why? Why are kids so dumb some times? Why don't they just listen." Just DON'T put things in your mouth that don't belong there! I have said that a MILLION and one times to this kid but he never gets it. He probably still won't take my advice, even after his traumatic experience.

After 40 minutes or more of Me, my neighbor and Daddy dealing with this situation we get the stupid crayon off his face. Our problem was that it was hard to grasp it because it's plastic and very slippery when it has saliva all over it. Our smart Daddy thinks to get that grippy material (the stuff you can buy in the roll to put in your kitchen drawers etc.) that we had in our drawer and hold each end of the crayon with it as he poped it open releasing poor J boys lip.

We LOVE our Hero, Daddy. J's poor lip was a little pinched, no blood thank heavens or I would have been a basket case! His lip was a little soar and stretched out for the rest of the day and he was really clingy to me for the next few hours. He survived, I survived and the crayons....well, they are going in the garbage.
I did call Crayola to tell them what happened just so the knew and I was kind of hoping they'd offer to give me my money back since I would not be keeping these in my house. They were really nice and are sending J boy a safe crayola present, I do like free things :)

Oh the joys of raising children!

I do love that boy even if he's not so smart some times!

My Therapy session....

Hormones are not fun to deal with. I don't care if you are a Man, Woman, Child or alien, being hormonal (or dealing with a hormonal woman) is, well.....Annoying? (I think that is the word I want to use.)

With J boy I experienced a whole new type of Pregnancy stress when one day I thought I peed in my pants and then a few days later I was admitted to the hospital because I was leaking amniotic fluid. I found out I would be there, in the hospital until he was to be born. It was unexpected and very stressful and a traumatic experience for me, for many reasons which I will not share right now, but in the end it all worked out.

With my last pregnancy a year ago I had lots of stress and crying and raging hormones too. I felt like it was weird from the beginning only to find out weeks later I was right and that it was not really a pregnancy at all. Then for three months I dealt with my weird body as it tried but failed to get rid of the "pregnancy" on its own. THREE months of being reminded I wasn't going to have a baby was AWFUL to say the least but I got through it and got over it as quick as I could.

Six months of waiting to get pregnant again and hearing person after person asked me EVERY MONTH "Are you pregnant yet?" then I finally find out that yes, I'm pregnant again. Whew, nothing to worry about now, yeah right!

So what is my point in reminiscing with you about these awful pregnancy experiences, you may be asking?

My point is this.......If you take that now 5 1/2 month pregnant woman (who also happens to be so sick with an awful chest cold that won't go away) who has experienced those awful things mentioned above, douse her in lots of pregnant woman hormones you will get a crazy-freaking-out-over-every-little-thing fat pregnant woman (although she resembles nothing womanly, just a ball of hormonal tears! yes, yes I know my poor husband).

This weekend I thought it was happening again. I felt like I "tinkled" myself and of course I automatically think its the worst case scenario and that it is my amniotic fluid leaking again and that I am going to be hospitalized for the rest of my pregnancy. I first feel it on Friday and I decide to "wait it out" until Monday. Why? Well, because I knew I had that freaking-out-pregnant-woman in me and wanted to make sure I had all the facts before calling my Doctor. What an awful weekend it was, waiting and worrying, when I could have just called Friday and had it taken care of then. No, I like to do it the hard way apparently.

So our day off yesterday was spent lazing around in the morning waiting for the nurse to call me back and then to schedule me an appointment and then off to the Doctors office to get tested and then treated. You will be happy to know it is only a yeast infection (TMI, I know). Of course I would not think of that. I've actually never experienced one of these lovely infections so I had no idea what to look for or even expect and instead of thinking outside the box, I freak out thinking I'm leaking amniotic fluid.

Do you see my point, homones are annoying! Please take them away from me, I don't want or need them any more. Or at least take the ones away that make me cry (read this in the sobbing, snotty slobbery voice you have when you cry) "Thank you for being so nice to me..." to the Doctor in his office yesterday! Yes, Hormones gotta love them. I then said to him "I think I'm just so hormonal." His reply....and he was being nice not rude when saying this...."Ya think?" I love my Doctor, thank heavens for an understanding OBGYN because there are some out there that are not as understanding as this Man.

There ya go, my therapy blogging for the Month.

I'll meet you right here next month for my next therapy session, sound good to you?!

It's Another Girl

Yes yes, it's true!

We found out the other day we are expecting another girl. We are so excited for more girl drama ;) No, we really are excited for this baby no matter what it ends up being. All we want is a healthy baby and so far it's looking good.

J boy knew it all along I think. From the beginning when asked what he wanted the baby to be, he'd say things like "It's a sister" so matter-of-fact, he had me convinced.

E wanted twins. I kept telling her we already knew there was just one baby there, but I think she still had some hope until the ultrasound tech told her otherwise. Then after she found out I was telling the truth, that there was in fact just one baby, she could have cared less what it was going to be. Silly girl. She showed no emotion when we told her it was a girl. I think she is over it now and is excited and telling people she is going to have a sister. What a funny girl. I seriously think she thought if there were twins one would be hers to keep.

This Boy cracks me up. He is so fun to be around, saying all kinds of silly things daily.Oh, how did you guess I have another funny story to tell of this boy? Probably because recently all the funny things I share here come out of this boys mouth.

I think its okay to share this because it came from an innocent child's mouth (it's nothing terrible I promise) its pretty funny, actually.......

We brought home three pictures of the baby from the ultrasound. J boy was looking at all three and asking me if all of them were babies and if they were all in my tummy. I had to say, 15 times, "they are all pictures of the same baby. There is only one baby in my tummy."

Still confused my silly boy pulled the warm blanket off my body put his hands on my bulging tummy and looked as if he was really thinking hard about something that did not make sense to him.

Then to my surprise he put one of his hands on one of my boobs (yes, I'm going to call them boobs hope no one is offended ;) and the other hand on my other boob and asked "Then what are these?" he was so serious too.

HA HA HA! I about died laughing, which only mad him mad. He was so dead serious thinking "Well there are three pictures of babies and three bumps on Mommy, those other two must be babies too." I could just see the wheels in his head turning.

I can't blame him for thinking that way, as all you mothers know, our tummies are NOT the only things that get bigger when we are pregnant. He assumed since "those" were getting bigger and Mommy's tummy was getting bigger, than there must be growing babies in "those" too since there is a growing baby in her tummy. It makes perfect sense, right?!

I did explain to him that there is only one baby in my tummy and that "those" are not my tummy and they are no growing babies inside them.

Today he told me "There is only one baby in your tummy huh Mommy?" I think he's finally got it!

Kids are so great! I think my life would be less exciting with out my funny kids.

First Post of the New Year, Hooray for 2010!

Happy New Year!
Hooray for 2010! One more year gone, and I feel no different, maybe slightly older and a little (okay a lot) fatter but there is a good excuse for that last one :)

So did I make any New Year's Resolutions, you ask?

NOPE. I never really do, but it sounds like a good idea.

I mainly wanted to put up a post today because it is the first of the new year, so I think I'll show you a picture or two.....

We didn't do a whole lot on New Years Eve last night, I didn't even watch the count down or the Ball drop. How lame am I? Oh well.
BUT.....
Here is what we did do last nightYes, that is right people, we torched our dried out Christmas tree. We took it out in our tiny back yard and C got out his left over Roman Candles and went at the tree with them. It was awesome, and a little scary how quickly one little spark on the tree made it burst into flames. We didn't douse it in lighter fluid or anything, it just burst into flames all on it's own.

I can now see how dangerous real Christmas Trees can be and what a real fire hazard they are if you let them dry out. It was insane how fast that thing went up in flames, and it was insane how high the flames got. We were not stupid though, we mad sure to have our hose ready to spray it down. I think we worried our neighbors a bit, but no one called the Fire department so we were good.

We videoed it too but I was laughing hysterically the whole time in it, partially because I was afraid we'd burn down our fence in the back yard. I had that nervous laugh going on. Like I said we had the hose ready it was just a little more flames than we expected. I would not recommend doing this if you did not have water right on hand to immediately soak it in. Also I would not recommend this if you have a tree bigger than 5 feet tall. Our tree was pretty tiny and it still made huge flames and it put out a lot of heat too! We're crazy, I know this.

Being with the Family at Christmas was great and EVERYONE was home. My one and only brother was home off his mission this Christmas, and my 5 other sisters were all able to make it out too, so it was a HOUSE FULL to say the least. I'd call 13 People a house full wouldn't you?

Here are a couple of Family Pictures we took since everyone was there this year.

Our little Harker Family
My Kids all dressed up cute for Church
My whole Family, The Weathers (Plus one, my little Sis BF was able to spend Christmas with us too)
The Classic "Make a goofy face" Pose....
If you aren't goofy, you'd feel out of place around our house. When we all get together, us girls can get pretty out of control goofy some times, and the Men of the house just put up with us :)
I love the face Tyler (My bro-in-law,the tall guy in the back) is making, it's a good one!
Just the siblings....yep, just one boy with all these girls.
We're crazy I tell ya! Love it.
Wendy and Kim crack me up!

Fun Family times! I wouldn't trade them in for the world.

Hope you all had a good Christmas and a Happy New Year too!
