So we're winding down the Tornado season out here in the Midwest ((sigh)) finally. But so far there have been a few big storms passing through our lovely state that produced multiple tornadoes. One brought some where around 14-15 in our state alone (That was the huge storm that made national news. The one that caused tons of tornadoes in Missouri, where it destroyed a whole town, yeah that storm). And another big storm recently brought about 11-12 tornadoes across our state. Pretty crazy stuff.
Thankfully none of those tornadoes were in our city, but some came a little close for comfort.
For my Westerners that don't experience tornado type storms they are big storms, creepy and eery especially when the sirens are going off and it's night (which is when they always seem to hit us). The news will have nothing else on but weather updates the entire time before and after the storm, which gets me all worked up and scared. And when a warning is put out for our county we clean out our tornado shelter........
My kids think it's so fun. When ever there is any type of storm, whether it is big or not, they will always say "can we go play under the stairs now please!" It's so fun to them but to me I'm just praying that's all we have to do is "play" under the stairs.
This year has seen a rough tornado season across Tornado Alley, it's been a bit scary at times thankfully we are kind of at the tail end of Tornado Alley and we haven't (personally) seen any tornadoes in our neighborhood. If we had been hear just one tornado season before we came out here to the Midwest we would have witness one just up the street from us, glad we waited a little longer to move out here ;) But we heard the stories about it, that was scary enough for me.
Anyway 'tis the season to keep the tornado shelter cleaned out and ready for use. It's almost over. Only to start up again in August/September good thing we'll be gone by then.
